Since 1933, St. Luke Community UMC has been a spiritual home and community force in Dallas — rooted in Christ, justice, and the Kingdom.
Faith is at the center of who we are, moving us toward compassion, equity, and action.
Faith is at the center of who we are and how we serve.
We believe faith should move us toward compassion, equity, and action.
We are committed to building community, serving families, and pursuing God's purpose together.
Since 1933, St. Luke has been more than a building. It has been a spiritual home, a community anchor, and a place where generations have gathered to worship, serve, heal, and grow.
Today, that legacy continues through worship, discipleship, outreach, congregational care, and a commitment to serving Dallas with faith and purpose.

1933We are guided by the Holy Spirit to be a church that transforms lives through faith, justice, community, and excellence.
""St. Luke is called to be guided by the Holy Spirit. We are prophetic voices that transform lives by becoming a Christ-centered, justice-driven, Kingdom-minded community, pursuing excellence in all we do.""

“God has called me to build people and build community.”
Richie Butler lives out his personal mission daily, inspiring others to do the same. As the founding Senior Pastor of Union Cathedral, he led a historic and innovative merger with St. Paul United Methodist Church in 2014 to form the vibrant congregation that is St. Luke today.
Beyond the pulpit, Richie is a visionary in community development. As a private equity real estate fund manager, he spearheaded Unity Estates—a groundbreaking 285-home development in Southern Dallas sponsored by a coalition of pastors, catalyzing over $100M in new regional development.
A passionate advocate for reconciliation and progress, he founded Project Unity, launching initiatives like 'Together We Ball' to bridge gaps between law enforcement and the community, and the 'Year of Unity' following the 2016 Dallas ambushes.
